Tina found a nest in one of her pots with flowers. First we thought is was a hummingbirdnest but when we searched on the internet for some info we it appeared to be the nest of a house finch.
It was way to big for a hummingbird, because its nest is even smaller than this one. Here are some pictures.

Hi...it's Jamee..Tina's friend in Hawaii :) This is so cute! She didn't tell me you guys found this! I know you guys have been busy though. That will be so fun to watch for the babies!

Where you thinking of a golden finch in Holland? Now I'm curious what a dutch finch looks like! We are not sure if this finch is what we call a purple finch, like the house finch Merel has a photo of here, (yes i know it's not really a purple color, but that's what they call it) or if it's a golden finch. everytime we go out and get near the nest, the momma flies off so it's hard to tell. The females are not a bright yellow like the males, so we don't know which type of finch it is. Now there are 5 eggs! I took new photos. Merel has copies of our photos already, so I'll have to email that one to her as she goes back to alabama very early in the morning tomorrow. Tina
