bye for now

I'm leaving for Missouri in a few hours, and I don't know if I'll be able to put that much pictures and stories on my weblog while I'm there. So I say goodbye, for now. I'll try to put something on it.

Rainy Barbeque..

Helloo,

We fed the speaker yesterday. He was very nice, and had brought his cousin. She's 17 and named Erica. Sweet girl, although she and her cousin were so close you would think they're dating if you didn't know better. We exchanged email so that we can keep in touch.
Brian, Vince and Samantha, came to have lunch as well which was very nice! They're great people:)
Around 4 o'clock we went to the park to the bqq with the congregation... the sun made placefor dark clouds cropped above us short after we arrived but according to Brian it wouldn't rain. And if it would it was my fault for I was from the rainy Netherlands haha. And then it started to rain..
So everyone went back into the car, some tried to hide underneath an umbrella which was not that comfortable..and they still got wet.
After ten minutes the rain staopped, leaving us with a soaked field. We played volleyball, little children played in the kindergarden next to the field and other sat down just to talk. John and Alan Jr. grilled the hamburgers and hot dogs. We said a prayer and ate together. sisters had made salads, and some had brought sandwiches and sauce. It was so nice to associate with each other. You get more time to talk and rally know the brothers and sisters.
I talked to Lesley, she's from chili and married to Alan Jr. She lived in Chili when they started dating. He was 18, she was 20 and still in school. So she wanted to finish college, and so she had to stay in Chili. Talking on the phone, and traveling back and forth was kind of hard, but now they're married she says she's even more happy to be with him.
She studied to be an elementary teacher, but has to do a presentation to get her final degree. So that's what she'll do next year when she and Alan are visiting her family in Chili. She's in the States for 2 years now. And she's looking for a job now, but she's still not that comfident with her language but she wants to try. I think she could do it, she speaks enough english to make children listen to her.
Sister lucky keeps telling me I'm another daughter for her. So now I've got two Alabama mama's, A 'lucky' -one, and a sunburned-one haha.
Birdie's face and neck are getting les red and so is my back. Its still red but not that sensitive anymore. I'm more concerned about Larry's legs. He had a huge blister on his left leg. Birdie went to town to get a description from the docter for it, I hope he won't get more of 'em, because it's really painfull, especially when they break!

Sun, Sea and lots of sand..

hya,

We planned to get up early yesterdaymorning to go to Gulf Shores and watch the Sunrise.
So Jasmin stayed the night with us and so did Lauren (the falk's 'step-granddaughter')
But we were kind of late so we had to watch it from our backseat in the car. We went to walk alongside the lagune, and later on went to a beach. We played in the waves and then decided to get us some breakfast. I'm still not used to the amount people eat, and I still can't believe how much they eat. I'm really not a breakfast person, more a 'once-in-a-while-breakfast-person' but that people can eat that much that early in the morning..
Anyway we had breakfast and then went to see Dave. He's Lauren's stepfather and the Falk's youngest child and son. He was working on this building down Gulf Shores so we run by to say hi! After that we went to see if we could go to Waterville/Waterworld. Its a kind of park where children can play with water, they've got pools, and so on. But it wasn't open untill today, so poor Lauren was dissapointed.

We went to another beach and stayed there 'till two o'clock. Sand was everywhere, in the car, shoes, bags, clothes, ears, noses, hair, eyes, everywhere. And all of us, exept for Jasmin, got sunburned. We had made sure we put sunblock on us, even a factor 35.. but still.. Larry's 'milkbottles' are red right now, my back's sunburned, Birdie's face and neck's burned and and Lauren's arms got a tiny bit burned. We'll survive. There was a breeze on the ebach so you wouldn't feel the heat on your skin, and some people said its because of the ozon. We've put stuff on it to keep it cool, and we'll be fine. Although it didn't feel that good when all the brothers and sister hugged us this morning. .(auw..sorry!) Normally I think its a good thing, we should do that in the Netherlands as well (HUG!!!) but not with a sunburned back..

We went to a souvenirs shop after the beach. The doors were in a shark's mouth as you can see on the picture. They had really nice stuff in there, bought Jasmin and myself a necklace and some other things. I could have bought so much more but I'm still Dutch and I thought it was too expensive. I can make the things I saw by myself if I want to! They even had Hermit-Crabs in painted shelves. But they didn't smell that nice..

I've made a lot of pictures. I'm so happy with my camera, you can make the greatest pictures with it, as long as you know how to setup the camera.. and I kind of discover something new every time;)

I've posted most of the pictures I made yesterday on my blog, and some of the pictures Birdie made (you can see the difference, in Birdie's pictures there's a date) so that you'll see me as well;)

Birdie and Larry are going out to see whether they can find a swingset or not. That'd be fun for Lauren when she's here. And I got a dress that I'd ordered for the dance the 17th of June. (finally)

Tomorrow we'll feed the brother who's giving the talk (Jehovah's witnesses have someone from there own congregation or another congregation of the witnesses's to give a public talk on the meeting each sunday before they study an article from the Watchtower) and after that we've got 'gameday' (just have fun, talk, play american football/soccer/volleybal). It's a barbeque with the congregation.

Only a few days left before I go to Kansas City, Missouri.. I don't know if I'll be able to post as much on my blog as I do now those 2,5 weeks. Don't know if I can use the computer that much when I'm staying with Tina. But you'll hear from me and I'll put it all on my blog as soon as I get back!

Love (a cripsy sunburned) merel
